Everybody seems to be trying to lose weight nowadays.  Diet pills are becoming a dime a dozen you can hardly tell which ones are safe and effective and which ones are dangerous.  Diet pills can cause serious damage to your health if you are not careful.  Some diet pills claim scientific truth while some rely of creating hypes just to sell.  But regardless if some diet pills are legitimate or not, drinking diet pills will have side effects especially since diet pills are processed and synthetic.

Fat blockers or diet pills that inhibit the absorption of fats into the body causes mostly gastrointestinal side effects like fecal urgency, increased defecation, oily spotting, oily evacuation, flatus with discharge, oily stool and fecal incontinence.  It can also cause nausea, abdominal pains, rectal pain, infectious diarrhea and many others.  And since fat blockers inhibit absorption of fats it can also inhibit absorption of some minerals and nutrients that can lead to deficiency in vitamins A, D, E, K and beta-carotenes.  For some, fat blockers can cause hypersensitivity.

Those taking fat blockers are advised to take multivitamin supplements that have fat-soluble vitamins to supply the body with enough vitamins A, D, E, K and beta-carotenes.

Appetite Suppressants

Since appetite suppressants targets the nervous system, taking these diet pills can lead to high blood pressure and increase in heart rate.  High blood pressure and increase in heart rate can lead to cardiac arrest and heart attack even death.  That is why it is important to consult your physician before you start taking diet pills especially if you have existing health conditions that may escalated with the use of these weight loss pills.  Minor side effects of diet pills that suppress the appetite include dry mouth, headaches, constipation and insomnia.

Most diet pills are known to substantially increase blood pressure that can be dangerous to most people especially those with a history of coronary artery disease, arrhythmias, stroke and congestive heart failure.  It can also cause back pains, abdominal pains, headache, hypertension, anorexia, palpitation, nausea, constipation, insomnia, thirst, dizziness, joint disorder, anxiety, acne depression and many others.  Diet pills are also addictive.  They are controlled substances that are habit-forming.  Users can become dependent on the pills and the body will get used to the substance if used for a long time.  Some person can experience withdrawal syndrome when they stop taking the pills.  Other side effects include pulmonary hypertension, elevated blood pressure, regurgitate cardiac vascular disease, overstimulation, restlessness, urticaria, impotence and many others.

One of the most common side effects of diet pills is the disruption of the metabolism.  At first your metabolism increases but on prolonged usage, your metabolism will drop whether you take the pills or not.  So even when you eat less, your metabolism is still low.  So prolonged use of diet pills can cause a yoyo-effect on your weight.

Although diet pills are not advised for pregnant women, diet pills are known to cause oral cleft on babies of pregnant women.  It may also cause disfigurement and other defects.

The most dangerous side effect of diet pills is death.  Although it is most risky for those who already have health conditions, there are plenty of recorded incidents where diet pills caused death to completely healthy individuals.  Diet pills can also trigger heart diseases, strokes and other health problems to healthy people.

How to Lessen the Side Effects of Diet Pills

One may not be able to avoid the side effects of diet pills but you can lessen the side effects by taking vitamin supplements to make sure that your body gets enough nourishment.  You also have to make sure that you drink plenty of water to replenish the fluids your body flushes out since diet pills are known to cause dehydration.  Sometimes you can stop the escalation of side effects by simply getting hydrated and properly nourished.  It is also advisable to do enough exercise and not just rely on the results of diet pills.  Exercise helps build strong muscles and fight some of the side effects of diet pills.  The most important way to lessen the effects is by regularly consulting your doctor.  Having your doctor around to assist you will ensure that you will be exposed to less risk and dangers.  Your doctor will also know how to counteract the side effects to keep you healthy and safe.

Diet pills can help you lose weight and get the body that you have always dreamed of.  Just remember that diet pills are not designed for prolonged use and that they are controlled substances that must be taken with caution.
