Sinusitis is most common in children and most of their parents will not recognize that as sinus infection in the beginning. This will lead to severe sinus problem which is known as Sinusitis. Sinusitis is as general as cold but we should know the difference and should take medicines accordingly. If we take normal cold medicines there will not be any use and over consume of antibiotics may lead to drowsiness. Immunity power in children is very less and if we give antibiotics this will lead to serious problems instead of solving present Sinusitis. If you start medicines for Sinusitis, there will be immediate reaction and you may feel better. But we should continue for some prescribed period as it well be just a temporary relief.

Sinus Infection in Children

Generally, the first problem that we will face with is your child’s nose will block and they will feel difficulty in breathing. Especially children nose will be thick and your pediatrician may recommend that you help drain them with saline nose drops. These are available without a prescription or it can also be made at home by adding quarter teaspoon of salt to an 8-ounce cup of water. Until and unless if nose drops are prescribed by your pediatrician, it is better not to use them as that contain medications because they can be absorbed in amounts which can further cause side effects. Antibiotics that are likely to be effective in children who do not improve with amoxicillin include trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole and erythromycin-sulfisoxazole. These should be taken only when your child can resist against any kind of antibiotic. These antibiotics should be given depending on dosage and number of days also depends on dosage. It may be 7 or 10 or 15 days or one month.
